Several websites contain lists of popular dogging locations across the region where strangers meet for public sex - including some of the county's best-known landmarks. Picturesque ports, stunning beaches and some of Cornwall's best-loved tourist attractions have appeared on a list of known 'dogging' sites, it has been revealed. The underground practice — known as dogging — involves people performing sex acts in cars or in secluded spots while others watch.
Devon and Cornwall Police said ly that the force was trying to tackle the antisocial behaviour, but its powers to stop dogging are limited. Whether you want to avoid them or just be aware what you may discover at a place you regularly visit, here are some of the rest.
A car park overlooking the mount is not only famous for breathtaking views, but also its sordid nighttime antics. The Pendennis Point parking area located directly below the coastguard station is a busy night-time spot offering breath-taking panoramic sea views, with people also using another smaller lay-by around the corner too.
One of the Lizard Point's most picturesque coves, Poldhu Cove, also has two nearby car parks which are all but deserted in the night except from visiting doggers. The gravel car park stretches way back from the road, offering darkness and quiet and there is also another National Trust car park up the hill towards Gunwalloe Beach. According to the list the Helston Boating Lake car park has been known to be frequented by doggers, however having lived nearby the only noises I've heard are the Meet Cornwall click sex and more of boy racers' exhausts.
The Cardinham Woods car park is said to have been a popular spot for late night entertainment in the past. Bassetts Cove is located between Hayle and Portreath and is listed as a nudist beach. Visitors are told to park at the Coliseum car park and make their way along the path to the end of the beach. Little did they know.
